I know, i know, i said i was back…..life has taken over….

Here is a quick run down of the last 3 months….

  • Ruby got osteomyelitis again, this time in her pinky…we spent  8 weeks in and out of hospital, a 6 week course of  antibiotics in capsule form (she is 5!!!!) this required me waking her up at 11pm and feeding her ice cream! 3 reactions to antibiotics. It is finally over again! She is pretty run down though!
  • Joely fell out of a tree (while i was at the doctors with Ruby) and split his head open… he ended up with stitches and on concussion watch.
  • the boys both got the flu
  • Levi had 2 seizures and spent 4 days in hospital. He had a fever with the first one, not with the second. The first one lasted for 15 terrifying minutes! The second one he didn’t stop till they gave him Diazapan. He had an EEG, which came back clear, so they are now saying they were seizures related to fever. (Not febrile convulsions.)
  • I got pneumonia (for the 3rd time in the last year!)

And Finally, just to top it all off, last Friday i had a car crash. I was driving along with all the kids in the car and we got T-boned by a truck!!! It hit right where baby Levi was sitting. So we had a trip in an ambulance and a 4 hour wait in hospital, while they kept Ruby and baby Levi under obs. I was pretty sore for the next few days! Thankfully they are going to fix my lovely van. We only got it 4 months ago, and weren’t keen to start searching for a new one again!

SO, there are my excuses!

On the sewing front i have been VERY productive, so with out further ado let me present you with some of my latest projects!!!

A nappy cake (diaper cake) made for my lovely sister-in-law’s baby shower. It contains 6 shaped burp cloths(wrapped around the layers) 10 face cloths (shaped into flowers) Nappy pins (to hold it together) and disposeable nappies! (they make up the layers)…oh…..and heaps of rubber bands!!!

A rocking baby wrap for my new little nephew/niece! (Her daddy is a rock star!)

A cute little canvas for my best friend Karen! xx

And a wardrobe refashion for my little princess Ruby! it started life as a Mother Care denim dress with brownish flowers embroidered all around it. Very drab….

Now…….Ruffles galore!!!

I apologise for the layout…I find wordpress really tricky to work out!!!

And finally, once I can get my photo card to download i will post the pics of my latest quilt….made for my sweet little Izzy’s (niece) birthday!

I’m Back!

Soooo much has happened since i last blogged.

I have had baby number 5! Little Levi is 12 weeks old now. He is an absolute delight. So cruisy, sleeping through already…he has just fit right in! I am enjoying snuggling him! He has only been in the pram once, i carry him in the sling whenever we go out!

My pregnancy was really tough, displaced hips (to the point that i couldn’t walk for a while) dislocated tailbone (couldn’t sit down comfortably!) , sick right through…but the labour was awesome, i can truthfully say i enjoyed every moment of it!!! Oh, except for the week leading up to my induction, i had contractions (my non-painful, but exhausting ones) every 10 minutes for the whole week! Every time i rolled over in the night i would wake up thinking my waters had broken, and i was to scared to get up to go to the loo in case the baby decided to come! (For those of you who don’t know, i have VERY quick labours. Ruby was born 25 MINUTES after my first pain!!!)

Anyway, here is our new little man….Levi, born 27th march, 8lb6oz (my biggest)

I have been crafting non-stop, sewing – sling, quilts, clothes. Knitting – a dress for Levi (before he was born and i thought he was a girl!!!) Soakers, tops for Levi. Painting canvases.  I will post some photos this week.

And a big thank you to Tania at myrtle and Eunice, Chickummyjig arrived today…He hasn’t been put down once, the kids LOVE him! I will have to steal him back while they are sleeping! And i LOVE the card you sent, your cards are beautiful.

and finally…3 days after Levi was born PinkyPie had her kittens! a litter of 4, Jarrod and Zoe watched the whole thing, and even had to help deliver one!!! (it was breech) Here is Levi meeting Striper(He now lives at Uncle Blake and Aunty Jenna’s house)…

I have been busy…. look see!

I have been doing some craft work… I am enjoying painting and creating canvases at the moment!

This first one was done from a photo of Rooroo, taken when she was 2. It is inspired by paintings Jarrod’s cousin is doing!

A button canvas… Super simple, super cute!

A painting of a fantail. Based on a cool photo i saw somewhere!

And finally, a canvas i have started for Ruby. (sorry about the poor photo!)

We have also celebrated Joely’s 2nd birthday! He is such a little dude! Check out the long hair, and Ruby’s sunglasses!!!

And Zoe has learnt to ride a 2 wheeler!!! Jarrod took her training wheels off a week and a half ago, she is an expert already!

    Oh, and one more thing……………………………..

Yep! We are expecting baby number 5!!!! Due in April next year. I have had terrible all-day-not-just-morning-sickness and have been in bed by about 7 each night! This is the real reason i haven’t been blogging!

The Flat Rosies’ holiday with Aunty Jenni and Uncle Hugh and their 2 cats, Ralph and Max.

    July 2008

When the Flat Rosies came to stay, Aunty Jenni was really happy. The Rosies were bright and cheerful and good company for a sick aunty!

    Among their adventures they…

    • Watched the All Blacks with Uncle Hugh
    • Planted a bulb with Aunty Jenni (it came home with them)
    • Made fresh Lemonade (recipe included)
    • Slept in Patrick’s bed
    • Met Banafa the Italian witch (kind of like an Italian Santa Claus, brings gifts to good children on Jan 6)
    • Went for a ride on her broomstick
    • Went to Aunty Jenni’s hospital appointment, met her nurses.
    • Had a picnic with Nana and Jenni and made hot choc with the hospital machine!
    • Went to the domain and fed the ducks
    • Had coffee in Ponsonby, sat on the table
    • Bought a felt butterfly for Zoë and Ruby
    • Went to a Café with Nana, Papa, Aunty Jen and Uncle Hugh for brunch
    • Watched Kung Fu Panda while sitting in Uncle Hugh’s pocket and ate his popcorn
    • Had a nap with Ralph and Max
    • Told the cats about the 3 little Kittens
    • Watched Zoë dancing
    • Made dancing outfits and did a show for Banafa (outfits came home!)

All these adventures were hand written this tiny little handmade book! SOOOO much fun for the kids to open!

    The Flat Rosies….and……A GIVE AWAY!

    Meet The Flat Rosies!

We read a book recently called Flat Stanley (Jeff Brown), it is about a boy who gets squashed in his sleep! His family pops him in an envelope and posts him away on holiday!

We decided to make our own version, the girls have named them The Flat Rosies! This week we have posted them to Aunty Jenni (She is not allowed to see anyone this week as she is Radio Active due to her cancer treatment!)

We are looking for other holiday destinations for them! They are very easy house guests, they only want to stay for a week (or so) and all they request is a photo, picture or story included in the envelope when they return! If you would like them to visit, leave a comment! We are going to make their adventures into a book (not a published book, a book the kids make!) and would love to send them all over the place!

    Now, the giveaway!

I whipped up this felt poppy needle book last night!

It is all handstiched, i will include a variety of needles in side.  (11 x 14cm)

Leave me a comment and i will draw a name on the 18th (my birthday!)

Thought i should mention, this giveaway is open to EVERYONE! You don’t have to have commented before, you don’t have to have even visited before! Just leave a comment!

    MMM Yummy!

Well, i said in my last post that we were off to a Hangi (traditional Maori meal cooked in a hole in the ground). Unfortunately, Javi ended up with food poisoning! He vomited 5 times (including all over the bedroom floor, thank goodness for wooden floors!). Everyone had separate packages and in mine the veggies were a bit hard, so i didn’t eat it! Javi’s was cooked perfectly, but, obviously there was something else in there!

On a yummier note, heres my new fave dish, just for you Kate!

Citrus Salad (i first saw this in a Foodtown magazine, but  has been adjusted more than enough to make it MINE!

4(if you are making it vegetarian you will probably want more!) Kumaras (sliced thinly)

    2 T oil

    2 T chilli flakes or 1/2 t paprika or 1/2 t chilli powder

    2 T orange zest

2 T honey (melted in the microwave to make it runny!)

Put all these in a bag and shake, making sure the bag is not split, because that is REALLY messy!

Roast at about 200 C for about 20 mins. I do this earlier in the day.

On a big flat dish arrange 1 bag of salad (i like baby spinach) 1 avocado, spring onion, 1 orange, Kumara.

Mix 4 T Best mayonnaise, 1/2 orange (juice and pulp)

    Pour over salad……………..

To carnivorize it add 3 rashers of bacon, 1 sliced chicken breast or 1 cordon bleu or 1/2 pack of Tegal chicken bites, some more of the dressing…..
